1982年2月，毕业于西南农业大学，获学士学位。

1987年12月，毕业于英国巴斯大学生物学院，获博士学位。

工作经历：

1988至1990年12月，分别于英国巴斯大学、北京农业大学完成博士后研究工作。

1996至1998年，先后在美国康奈尔大学、美国普渡大学短期工作。

1999至2015年，连续4届担任中国农业大学食品科学与营养工程学院院长。

1996至2023年，中国农业大学食品科学与营养工程学院，教授。

2017至2023年，中国农业大学特殊食品研究中心，主任。

2023至今，古天乐代言太阳集团，教授。
